absence seizures

My 6 year old daughter had an EEG test done on her April 7th and her doctor will not tell me what the test revealed. She wants us to go to Houston to a neuo doctor, but they can not see her until Sept. 11th.  So I went to the hospital that did the test and ask for a copy of the test. I am not a doctor so I don't understand what it all means,
The EEG begins with the patient described as awake.  The backgroung consists of a high amplitude 8-9 Hz posterior dominant activity.  An anterior posterior gradient was ___________. Slow waves of youth are noted posteriorly.  Of note, there is the presence of brief generalized spike and slow wave activity at approximately 3 Hz, lasting 1-2 seconds.  This was a maximal during photic stimulation and hyperventilation.  Clinical manifestations were described.  The patient apparently would not snswer during this episode.
Abnormal EEG consistent with a primarily generalized convulsive disorder such as would be seen in absence seizures.
Can anyone translate this information I need to know something I can't wait until Sept. 11th I will go crazy, I have alot going through my head right now. Please help.

Hi,
Your son's EEG is consistant with diagnosis of absence seizure with a chance to develope generalized seizure disorder. This is basically due to episodic increase in electrical activity of neurones in the brain. As you have a long time to consult a neurologist.Early initiation of anti epileptic drugs(for example-Valproate,Ethosuximide) would be required to contol and prevent seizures.Ask your doctor to start suitable medicines for your child.
Hope for the best.
Regards,

Hi, absence seizures are a type of seizure disorder. These seizures are sometimes referred to as petit mal seizures, which is an older term.

In absence seizures, the person may appear to be staring into space with or without jerking or twitching movements of the eye muscles. These periods last for seconds, or even tens of seconds.

A classic 3-Hz spike-and-wave EEG pattern accompanies absence seizures.
