ataxia

Should I be driving if I have Ataxia? I had a MRI of brain 2 weeks ago. The cerebellum has "volume loss" from an old head injury in 1982. Sometimes, I get Vertigo/Lightheaded when driving off and on. Also, noted was chronic small vessel ischemia. Does that mean "mini strokes" that I'm not aware of?

Thank you Foggy2 for your reply. I see a Neurologist in 6 weeks.
Today, I have a phone appt. with my Primary Doc.
Yes, I've heard of driving restrictions with DMV.
It's frustrating when I'm needing to find a job as well with all that's going on
Have a good day!

You should talk to your doctor about this.  Is he/she a Neurologist?  You can have driving restrictions put on your driver's license in the US and still be able to drive (voluntary restrictions that the DMV) is aware of), or if you do not feel safe behind the wheel then don't drive and get alternative ways of getting around.  Not only do you need to look out for your safety, but the safety of others.  Discuss this with your doctor.
