memory loss

Hello,
My mom (age 47) had her gallbladder taken out over 3 weeks ago.  After she stopped taking the pain medication (oxicodine) she has memory loss.  At first it was little things, but now she does not know what year it is, how old she is, or that she just had surgery.  She does have some memory, like she knows who me and my sister are and what she does for work.  Another symptom is that she says her body is soar, like she lifted a bunch of weights.
We are looking for any type of input/advise.  Her doctors have been doing every test and scan.  However, they are not coming up with any answers.  Please help us, we don't know what else to do.  She cannot be left alone because she starts to freak out not know what she is suppose to be doing.

OMG yes, that is possible.  Her symptoms are becoming more severe.  I think you all should have her admitted to the hospital for close monitoring and a faster neuro assessment if that is possible.

Keep us posted.

I am finding out a little more each day.  The reason my mom hasn't had the MRI is because of insurance issues. And she has a new symptom.  She is pulling out her hair and biting her bottom lip.  Not even realizing she is doing it.  A friend of mine, who is a nurse, suggested to look up Post Operative Cognitive Disorder.  Have you heard of this?  From some of the sites i found on it, it sounds like the same situation.

Try talking with the doctor's office to get her MRI sooner.  TOO BUSY AND BACKED UP? Is the MRI going to be done at the doctor's office or some where else?  Well, that is a ridiculous excuse.

You can try to go the ER route; take her to ER and explain the situation and the family concerns.  The MRI probably will be obtained.

The other testing can wait a little; need the MRI like yesterday.

Do you know what her blood sugars have been like?

Keep us posted.

PS  Sorry about responding later; I live in Belgium; time difference.  I am an American.

Ok, well I just found out what has been done, and it is only blood work.  I thought a lot more has been done like an MRI and CAT scan.  But she is scheduled for am MRI, however, it is not until March.  Do you think i need to call her doctor and try to get it done today/tomorrow.  My sister says that they have not done it because they are really busy and backed up.  But they could just send her o the emergency room right?  I do not know how the doctors do things in Hawaii, but if something is wrong with my moms brain and they are waiting, it could get worse right?

She also had an EPG scheduled for March.

She is seeing a Neurologist, and they are saying they have no idea what is wrong.  She just saw him on Wed and does not have another appt with him until the 3rd of March, which I personally think is a little far out to be seeing her again. During her visit on Wed my sister said that all they did was memory tests.  But i will find out in about 2 hours what other tests has been done.
And no we do not have any family history of stroke, the only family history is that my great grandpa was a diabetic and my uncle (her brother) has cancer.  I know she is hypoglycemic if that might have any thing.

I know she is on Thyroid medication, and i will have to call my sister to find out exactly which test have been done.  They are in Hawaii, so the time different means they are still asleep right now.  But she really doesn't  have any other medical problems.  She had to have her gallbladder taken out because to she had 2 pancreas attacks and her doctor found slug in her gallbladder.
