can anybody relate?

i was playing back yard football when i was around 15 years old. i fell and landed on my neck and nearly knocked myself out. i landed on the right side of my neck. six months to a year later. i started having problems with the right side of my back. basically my right shoulder blade. and i had landed on the right side of my neck so i was thinking that my injury was the cause. but what im experience is not really pain. its more so just very uncomfortable. the left side of my back feels completley normal. my right side feels like everything is bunched up together and is very stiff. it just feels sort of out of place. and ive noticed that if i move it my right arm up and down i can hear things grinding together on my right side. i cant do that with my left side. sometimes i have sharp pains through my ribs and ive noticed from time to time my right arm locks up and i have to straighten my arm out until my elbow pops really loudly to get it back straight again. its just very annoying with one side of my back feeling out of place and stiff and uncomfortable all the time. also i have noticed that my neck gets very stiff at times.

Hi there,

The symptoms you are describing could be due to a problem with the nerves but sounds more likely to be a musculoskeletal problem (a problem with the muscles, bones and joints.) Sounds like you maybe damaged the rotator cuffs in your shoulder if the joint locks and the grinding you describe could be "crepitus" which is caused by the joints moving off one another. Another reason to get this checked out as osteoarthritis can occur after an injury to the shoulder so I would see a doctor about this. The treatments they suggest could be anything from physiotherapy, muscle relaxants or steroid injections. As you haven't mentioned any problems with numbness/tingling or weakness in your shoulder, it does not sounds like a nerve problem.

Hope this helped.
