Depends on what the surgeon has to say about how the operation went, if he felt he was able to get the whole thing out.  Also, different tumors have a better chance of cure than other kinds, so again the doc would know.  There are other factors, too, like your age and staging of the cancer and how fast-growing it is.  You MUST ask your doc.  All I can do is just tell you from my own personal knowledge and experience.  Chemo and radiation is designed to kill off any stray cancer cells, so depending on all other criteria I've mentioned, you have a good chance in general these days with such advanced care, five years out is considered a cure.  Sure, there are some cancers that are real trouble no matter what docs do, like pancreatic and ovarian cancer, for example, but there are even survivors of those.

You are obviously doing very well to post a message in this forum, so that's a very good sign.  They will do endless followups, looking for return of any growths, so that's good that they'll be on the lookout and catch any problems ahead of time.  I had a friend who had bone cancer, and even after he went thru the whole nine yards of an operation and so forth, it spread to his lungs within months, of course they found them straight away becuz they watched him so closely, but get this, they operated on those spots, and he is a 10-year survivor.  You should post over in one of the cancer forums, those people know everything about how cancer works... but try to depend more on what your docs say, than what we say.
