crushing Pain in both Biceps

I have had intermittent attacks of crushing pain in both biceps for several years starting in the early 1990s.

Some years ago I was diagnosed with an Atrial Septal Defect which was closed using an "Amplazer " device in 1998 amd this was thought to have been the cause of the pain which at the time was accompanied by an irregular heartbeat and high blood pressure

My blood pressure is under control now and my energy levels are normal since the ASD closure.

I am still having intermittent attacks of crushing pain in both arms, (biceps) which occur unpredictably but appear to be less often now, along with tingling in my fingers, maybe twice or three times per year. The attacks are very disabling and the muscles ache for a few days afterwards.

My Doctor has no idea why I'm getting these pains. My heart is OK on an Excercise tolerance test.

Any ideas?

Sorry, didn't answer your questions.

"Have you been ever investigated for cervical spondylosis or thoracic outlet syndrome? "

I have not been investigated for either of these but I did sustain an injury from a blow on my head some twenty years ago which may have compressed my spine in that area. This has never occurred to me before as a possible cause. Thank you for raising the possibilities.

Hi, please consult neurologist for nerve conduction studies and EMG. Cause could be either neurological or vascular insufficiency. It seems to be myopathy, hence investigations should be undertaken to find out the cause. Have you been ever investigated for cervical spondylosis or thoracic outlet syndrome?
