dizziness and jumpy vision (with other symptoms listed)

Hello!

In the last week i am trying to look for answers to all of my problems. but with money being tight, I can only do so much.

I have been reading around lately and I seem to be stuck between a rock and a hard place with this. Hopefully someone on this forum can help me out because I seem to get nowhere while looking for help.

To start things off, I am 19 years old. I have had weird symptoms in the past year (10 months to be exact), and it seems like no one knows where I'm coming from. My parents obviously don't look at it as a big deal, and i have been telling them about it ever since it stared (about a year ago). Being that i have no insurance, it is really hard to get to a doctor.

How it started:
Well, about 10 months ago i was going through a good bit of stress. we lost our house and had to move without notice, changing schools and living with my aunt. I was eating poorly in school(because i didn't have the money to eat what i normally eat) and I went through a major diet change.

One day in school (the end of the day), the bell alarmed and I started to make my way to the bus. I had just woke up because i slept a lot in school. I forgot my bus number so i started looking for others that road my buss, when i found one i proceeded to follow her when all of the sudden my vision started rolling to the upper right and my legs started giving on me. The only thing i could do at the time was grab the water fountain so i didnt hit the ground. after slight panic, I calmed myself, got a sip of water and began to head to my bus.
I told my parents about it as soon as i got home. They seemed to not be worried about it, told me it was stress, and i should relax and take it all of my mind.

The next day came. through out the first 2 hours of school, something similar had happened. while walking down the hallway in the middle of changing classes, i got dizzy and started to panic. The next day, same thing, same place. I stared calling home sick asking for my mom to pull me out of school, playing sick so i didn't have to go the next day, until final Friday. I was forced to go to school, same thing happened at the same place.

By this time, I was trying to figure out what had been setting my dizziness off.
And had concluded it was the lighting of the school.
I would be fine until i walked past a specific point of the hallway(where the light flickered and the floor sloped, causing a weird lighting effect).

I pretty much forced my mom to move back to the area we had just moved from, hoping that things would get better. still, in my old school where i knew everyone and was comfortable, I seemed to be having the same problem. Only now, it was happening out of school, and i started noticing more things wrong with me then before(listed below). As time went by, I told my parents on a daily basis, nothing was done about it though. They kept leaning on anxiety attacks more then anything serious. The rest of the school year went on with the same problems occurring, and i seemed to not be able to do anything about it. Some days were a lot worse then others, some days i had no problems at all.
I don't even know how i made it through graduation day, I was so scared i would have symptoms occur and would panic in the middle :(

If you read this, thanks for the time. I'm willing to try anything to get better, and I'm tired of people telling me "its all in your head". no one seems to listen to me about my problems, and no one thinks it is anything serious?? again, this has been occurring for about 10 months now, and seems it will persist another 10 or more if not treated.

Symptoms that occurred more frequent then others:
Jumpy vision, feeling off or out of place, dizziness, feeling sick all the time, migraines coming every other day , depressed and feeling unhappy, fatigue, anxiety, loss of balance,

Symptoms that occurred more then once, but not often:
warm sensation in my feet, low blood-sugar feeling, extreme thirst and frequent urination.

Other problems that may or may not be related:
Burning in my stomach and lower esophagus. worsening when i eat hot foods, take hot showers, anything requiring physical activities like jogging, helping out in the yards, ect.
I HAVE seen the doctor about this, as it has been occurring for about 2 months now. They have concluded that it is either gastritis or an ulcer. currently taking over the counter medicine for it and waiting for my results for h. pylori.

There has to be somewhere in Atlanta you can go for help.  Perhaps you and your mother could look through the phone book or on the internet for clinics and/or facilities that can help you for free or at low cost.  Emery is one that comes to mind.  I believe it is a teaching hospital.

Try the above so that you can get some answers.

Is there a free clinic or medical facility near your home?  Teaching hospital?  Are you close to Atlanta?

Being that you had blood drawn, do you know if one of the blood draws was for Celiac's?

Yes, unfortunately, none of this testing, etc. is FREE unless you can find some kind of free clinic or teaching hospital willing to help you out with the costs.  I would look into that and have your mother help you look too.

thanks for all the help. unfortunately as i stated before, my parents are having trouble making ends meat as well, they just filed chap. 7 bankruptcy and my mom is still out of a job. my regular did send me to the GI specialist, but he only spoke about my stomach pains and said it would be gastritis.

At the GI, I had blood drawn and was checked for hemorrhoids, and that was about it. I have yet to look at the bill of why it might have cost me 500 dollars, but i do know that it cost $126 just to walk through the door.

As for the other problems, i'm not really sure as in what to do anymore. everything is so expensive that i might as well just put off looking for an answer for a couple of years at this rate. the GI told me a scope would cost well over $1000.00 to have done. and im sure things like mri's and others from different specialists will cost well over that as well.

Unfortunately, figuring out the exact cause of a medical problem is NOT always as easy as 1,2,3.  You might not find the answers immediately.  It might require seeing alot of physicians, doing labs, etc.  We can only guess what might be going on with you being that you can't be assessed or diagnosed over the internet.  Even if we had the answers for you, you still need to be treated by an actual physician.  Unfortunately, that costs money.  Can't your parents help you out at all?

Did you have any labs done?

Did your regular send you to this GI Specialist?  His thoughts about what is going on?

I don't know what your GI Specialist looked for.  You need to ask him and as well get a copy of your results.  $500.00?  Did he do a scope on you?  That is alot of money.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi there. Apart from anxiety attacks, panic disorder etc, check with your doctor for GERDS, diabetes mellitus, and multiple sclerosis. Your doctor should investigate you for multiple sclerosis since you have multiple neurological symptoms. MS is a chronic demyelinating disorder where the disease phase is characterized by active phase and remissions. It has multiple symptoms and signs and is a diagnosis of exclusion. The symptoms of multiple sclerosis are loss of balance, muscle spasms, numbness in any area, problems with walking and coordination, tremors in one or more arms and legs. Bowel and bladder symptoms include frequency of micturition, urine leakage, eye symptoms like double vision uncontrollable rapid eye movements, facial pain, painful muscle spasms, tingling, burning in arms or legs, depression, dizziness, hearing loss, fatigue etc. The treatment is essentially limited to symptomatic therapy so the course of action would not change much whether MS has been diagnosed or not. Apart from clinical neurological examination, MRI shows MS as paler areas of demyelination, two different episodes of demyelination separated by one month in at least two different brain locations. Spinal tap is done and CSF electrophoresis reveals oligoclonal bands suggestive of immune activity, which is suggestive but not diagnostic of MS. Demyelinating neurons, transmit nerve signals slower than non-demyelinated ones and can be detected with EP tests. These are visual evoked potentials, brain stem auditory evoked response, and somatosensory evoked potential. Slower nerve responses in any one of these is not confirmatory of MS but can be used to complement diagnosis along with a neurological examination, medical history and an MRI in addition, a spinal tap. Therefore, it would be prudent to consult your neurologist with these concerns. Hope this helps. Take care.

i have seen the GI, they took blood and told me to call back for results. when i called all they told me was i was negative for "h. pylori". do you think thats the only thing they looked for? it came to around $500 for the whole visit and that one test.

i have seen similar topics on other forums but no one seems to have an answer. i have seen people saying it can range from inner ear, mild tbi, candida, and the list goes on. i dont even know where to look.

To add:  I would recommend getting tested for Celiac's Disease.  This is a simple blood draw.

I know you have the "doctor" seen, but what kinds of doctors have you seen?

The problem sounds GI or inner ear and the neuro symptoms are secondary.

Have you had an Upper Endoscopy done before the diagnosis of Gastritis/Ulcer was given?   Have you seen a GI Specialist?

I'm very sorry this is happening to you. I also have been feeling very similar for the past 8 months. I have been to neurologists, ENT, Cardiologists. None of them have any answers for me. I have had CT scans, MRI s, ENG, and every blood test imaginable. My neurologist pretty much threw his hands up with me yesterday and said he has no clue what it is. I start physical therapy today and hopefully it will help me cope through the episodes. I'm sorry I cant shed any light on your situation, but I just want you to know I'm there with ya. It has affected my whole life..kids, work, relationships. I'm just not he same person I was a year ago.
