electricity jolts going through my head & upper body & tongue

I have what I can only describe as electrical jolts in my head. They used to happen every so often, maybe once or twice a day, but now it's up to every 5 minutes or so, sometimes just one, but lately, I've been getting 2 to 3 in a row, each lasting just a second or less.  There is no pain with it, but really annoying, and can't concentrate anymore.
I've had mri's & ct-scans that show nothing.
Sometimes it feels like it's going through my whole upper body.  Kind of like when you hit your funny bone, and it goes all the way up through your body & head & you can feel it in your tongue.
There is no external movement or shake or anything, it seems to be just completely internal. Like an inside-out tick.
PLEASE HELP!!

I got this "electric shock" up the back of my neck and through my forehead.
It was mostly when I was either going to sleep or it would wake me up .  My neuro doc. started me on Neurontin and that has stopped this problem. Thank GOD!!  It is a very unsettling experience to say the least.  Good luck.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi there. This description is suggestive of lhermitte’s sign, which is an electrical sensation that runs down the back and into the limbs from the posterior columns and is produced by bending the neck forward or backward. This is suggestive of lesion of dorsal column of cervical cord or of caudal medulla. This is a finding in many disorders like multiple sclerosis, trauma, vitamin B12 deficiency, sub acute combined degeneration, compression of the cervical spine due to cervical spondylosis, disc herniation, tumor, Arnold chiari malformation. It can also be seen as a discontinuance syndrome of psychotropic medications etc. consult a neurologist for further guidance. Take care.

Sometimes medicine can cause this, in particular SSRI antidepressants.
