facial twitches

I have been married 11 years and in that time my husband has every imagineable facial tic you can imagine! It always worsens during stress but it is always there. When we were first married he had blinks and we went through the whole saline drops because he was sure it was an allergy causing itchy eyes. Then it progressed to a grimace, then a nose tic etc etc. At the moment he has this mouth thing and it drives me crazy! He looks stupid when he does it and it is annoying to watch. I find I don't even look at him any more! Even when he is talking to me and I can't bear to be too close to him as he makes a noise with this twitch! You can see that this marriage is going to need serious help if I don't get to the bottom of this. His take on it is that he has always had it and there is nothing he can do to help himself. My feeling is just stop it for heaven's sake! He has had migraines in the past and has been told he has a lot of facial tension. He has been given a plate to sleep with at night but I don't think it really helps although he is religious about wearing it every night. Any help???

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi,
The causes of facial muscle spasms are- Huntington’s disease, Hypocalcemia, Hypoparathyroidism, Levine- Critchley syndrome, Machado- Joseph disease, Sydenham chorea, Tourette syndrome  and  many others. Your husband needs medical help. Spasms are beyond his control. It seems you have not consulted a doctor. Please consult a physician and neurologist and go for examination, routine investigations like blood tests and MRI of the brain and spine to know the cause of the symptoms.  Hope this helps you. Take care and regards!
