father can't walk, went to doctors for 5 years no answer

My father is slowing going paralized.  His speech is being effected as well.  The doctors have done 3 MRIs.  He has seen 2 neurologists and a spine surgeon.  He has had 3 EKGs.  They can't figure it out.  They said he has good muscle strength but his muscles are hesitating.  It's like they are frozen and then they finally move.

Any thoughts?

No twitching or cramping, difficultly talking not necessarily slurred or nasal-sounding (more like a person with a stroke would talk), but it is getting worse.  Haven't noticed any difficulty chewing or swallowing.  They said he had the bones of a 25 year old (because he was so active before this happened).  They said they didn't think it was ALS because he had good muscle strengh.  Dad got tired of going to the doctor about a year ago.  He does have a lump on his head but they didn't think that was anything to be concerned with.  I hate to see him like this.  He doesn't want to live this way.  The neurologist said it wasn't his brain but the spine surgeon said it has to be his brain because his speech is effected.

Thanks for your reply.

Is he having any of these Symptoms

(Symptoms of ALS)
Muscle stiffness, twitching, or cramping
Weakness affecting an arm or leg
Slurred and nasal-sounding speech
Difficulty chewing or swallowing.

Does he have any food Allergies or a history of Stroke or Heart Attack? How long has he had these symptoms?

Hope your father feels better.
