fish thorn

hello! one case of a child fascinates me so i thought i should ask..

a 3 year old child, very healthy, once got a fish thorn stuck in his throat. they rrushed him to the hospital and the thorn was removed with a minor surgery ( dont remember wat the procedure is called ).
a few days later, the child developed low grade fever. the doctor checked him, and said everythin was normal. his blood report was also normal. then one day he suddenly started havin difficulty in breathin and died within a few minutes or hours.
i was really wondering, if the childs blood report was normal, what could have been the cause of his sudden death and shortness of breath?
pls lets share ideas so such cases do not happen again.

waitin for ure comments. thanking u
Maryam

Adverse reactions to the drugs they were giving him after surgery. Or he simply could not get enough oxygen, due to the throat being still swollen from surgery. Therefore, causing him to have difficulty breathing. You say "one day" is this on the same day as his blood results were given as he may have developed blood poisoning from the place of the injury all types of bacteria can get into the open wound and infect the body within hours to days and some nasty bacteria could have caused sceptacemia. The reason why the bloods may have been normal is because the antibodies may not have realised the body was under attack per say or there were minimal bacteria within the body, in a couple of hours though, the pathogens multiply and infect the body. The white blood cells stand up as a form of defense and the wound swells up. Therefore explaining the fever and the fact that he couldnt breathe properly. He couldn't get enough air and therefore shortness of breath occurs. Which results in organ failure and sudden death.

Thats my philosophy anyhow.
