Dear James, welcome to the medhelp forum. Hope you are doing fine. I understand your concerns about the irregularities and grooves on your skull that have become evident with hair loss. You need to appreciate that the skull is made up of many plate like bones. In the front, one parietal bone is located on each side of the skull behind the frontal bone. It is like a curved plate with four borders. They both form the bulge and the roof of the cranium, fused in the middle along the sagittal suture and meeting up the frontal bone in front with coronal suture. Bregma is the meeting pint of these two sutures. Parietal foramen through the parietal bone serves as passage for vessels and nerves. These anatomical landmarks become prominent with a receding hairline and ridges and irregularities show up based on how these bones bonded during early skull development. You need to rule out any head trauma or fracture if you have sustained. If this doesnot allay your anxiety and there are other issues, you could meet a physician and discuss with him. Best wishes.
