Hi.To follow up what selma said, a lot of these illness are of an "idiopathic" nature. That is, of an un-known origin. It is a difficult thing to accept, where there is no person or reason to blame. I would advise you to look up Hydrocephalus, have a read, and come back to us with any questions you may then have.We will do our best to help.Cath278.
Hi....u wanted to know causes of hydrocephalus in adults....a syrinx or syringomyelia, chiari malformation, intercranial hypertension.....and I am sure other's I am unaware of.
I would wonder what the dr said as u were given this dx....and if there is something more u left out of ur question...we r a support forum and I am not a dr.....but a good NS should be able to run tests to rule diff things out.
Depending on the cause, u may need to have a shunt or if the cause is one of the conditions I mention, if it is taken care of it may help the excess fluid.
Please post an update.
