Hello and hope you are doing well.

If there is an infection and inflammation, where the shunt has been placed, this can cause pain. If there is redness or swelling, then it could indicate an inflammation. It can also occur if there is a blockage to the shunt. Please consult your surgeon, he may be able to help you. In the meantime you can take OTC Ibuprofen pain medication. Ensure to take this medication after food to avoid gastritis.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

Hello and hope you are doing well.

Is your vision good? If other causes have been ruled out, then the right sided headache could be due to migraine. Migraines as you know are intense headaches sometimes accompanied by nausea, vomiting and altered visual sensations. The pain could also be due to fibromyalgia or due to temporal arteritis. I hope you are on pain killers, if the present ones are ineffective, consult your doctor for long acting ones.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
