muscle twitching

The first of Septmber I noticed a twitch in the muscle just abovemy right knee.  It is present any time I am not moving.  After 3 days I also had twitching in my right calf.  I saw my primary physician who did not detect any muscular weakness, but seemed surprised at the reflex response in my right knee and mentioned he could refer me to a neurologist if it bothered me but would do nothing for now.  After another week of this he did refer me on and I await an appointment in late Oct. So, in the mean time I have trouble not becoming very anxious.  The twitching has remained constantly present any time the muscles are at rest, even if I put more weight on my left foot, the right calf and knee areas will twitch.  My calf muscle gets tight and sore.  It is difficult to sleep.  I mentioned to my physician, "it's probably restless leg". He apologetically replied that "you can't SEE restess leg syndrome, it is a sensation." This is very visible.  I have found some articles about fasciculations associated with fibromyalgia and chronic fatige syndromes.  I have had trouble with trigger points, headaches and muscle tension for years.  Any advice for relief?
Thank you.

Try to get your physician to prescribe quinine sulphate. Sometimes this works.

For muscle twitches and spasms, because mine get really bad at night when I am trying to sleep...my Dr's have prescribed a muscle relaxer.  The spasms/twitches are not harmful at all, just annoying.  I also have Restless Leg Syndrome along with PLMD (Periodic Limb Movement Disorder) and it is not the same as the twitches.
