My son had a shunt put in at birth. It stopped functioning at age 7. At that time I was told it was not safe to remove it. He seems to be having some neurological issues, forgetting things, issues with day to day. Are there medical issues that can occur with it being left in the head for so long and if so what are the symptoms?
