numbness in feet

I have had a numbness in my feet for the last six months.  I am seeing my doctor about this.  He originally suggested it might be a lack of B12 as this showed up in the blood test.  However the result just came back that B12 is normal after taking supplements for three months.  I am taking a test for nerves as well as an MRI for my spine.  Any suggestions will be appreciated.
The numbness affects my balance, and slows me up significantly.  I was in perfect health before this happened.

Causes of numbness in feet are- Diabetic peripheral neuropathy, Hypocalcemia, Polyneuritis, Degeneration of spinal cord, Nerve compression, Peripheral Nerve damage due to alcohol, Lead or other metals, Nerve entrapment or other causes.
