numbness on left side of body

I am a 27 year old female. Since Feb of this past year I have been having numbess on the left side of my body. It first started with my lower back and going down my left leg. Now it is the entire left side of my body. Just the other day it started to be on my right side as well. I have had an MRI of the brain and neck in May 2008. Everything was fine and the neurologist ruled out MS, tumor, etc. It almost feels as if I have an epidural. Could having an epidural during labor cause something like this? I had one in May 2006. I am scheduled for an MRI of my lower back next week. but in the meantime what could be causing all of this? It is not painful but just very annoying. The only relief I get is when I lay down at night. But then the numbness is back when I get up and walk around in the morning. Overall I am in good health. What is something I can do to help releive some of this before the dr gets the MRI report?

Thanks for the advice. I am currently taking a prenatal vitamin with 12mcg of B12. Is that enough. I go to the chiropractor and massage therapist on a regular basis. The massages seem to help but a few days later the numbness is back. Hopefully the MRI will give some sort of answers. Maybe it is just a herniated disc or something. Lets only hope its nothing more than that.

Hi,

Thanks for writing in.
There can be many causes like nerve compression in the lower back, peripheral neuropathy due to diabetes or B12 deficiency, stress, fatigue, lack of sleep, anxiety.
Epidural injections can result in tingling numbness in back and legs and buttocks. I would suggest you to take OTC B complex supplements and do gentle back exercises and see if it helps.
Do keep us posted on results of your CT scan. Take care!
