popping in neck

I have a popping that occurs in my neck.  This happens to some extent almost anytime I turn my head.  My neck feels stiff all the time, and I have a dull ache on either side of the bottom of my skull in the soft areas.  The popping
sometimes actually feels like a "catch" for lack of a better word and I have to "pop" it back.  Not severe, but enough to be annoying.   Please, any help you could give, do I need a docotr or a chiropractor?

Yes, and try to lead a stress free life, balanced diet and proper ergonomics. If it does not decrease you need medical help. Take care!

I have the same problem. It's been going on for a while and worsens with stress. It never used to hurt, but if I get stressed, my neck will hurt. But what Dixie described fits me to a tea.

Sometimes sleeping without a pillow actually helps.

You have to have your ergonomics perfect. Use a proper chair while sitting and also while driving and while sleeping your bed should be perfect. Avoid any pressure on your neck.
Take some anti inflammatory drugs and if it does not decrease in a weeks time visit an Orthopaedician.
Take care!
