post astrocytoma resection kyphosis problems

Hello! had a lamanectomy t1 to t5 and has astrocytoma resected and shunted a syrinx9cyst) the syrinx runs t1 to lumbar. I had scoliosis but since surgery 10 yrs.Kyphosis had progressed enough for docs to consider rods ect.  I am falling forward  fast. Should I look into different types of support rods or do I stick with my docs and do the surgeries. I suffer with headaches and pain. 5 to 10% paralasis.  Would you go ahead with it if told you should?

Thank you for your question. I would recommend consulting your treating neurologist in this regard since he or she has access to all your medical records and can let you know about what further can be done here.

Generally, rehabilitation is the only effective way to help you to regain function in better way and prevent from permanent losses. If rehabilitation program is appropriately instituted, most of the stroke patients can regain maximum functions with appropriate therapy, training and support services. For coordinated rehabilitation program a team of a neurologist, a physiotherapist, an occupational therapist and a speech-language pathologist, a nutritionist work together to help you in your recovery. Therefore, I would suggest following the suggestion made by them and recovery will be although slow but most of the functions may be restored. In addition, it is essential to know that risk of stroke recurrence may be reduced such as by quitting smoking and controlling blood pressure. Hope this helps.
