Pain after surgery

I had a lamanectomy 10 days ago, and wasn't quite sure what pain to expect after surgery when I got home. I have an ache down my left side, radiating down the leg, can anyone tell me if this is normal after surgery? Also I felt something pull inthe back of my leg yesterday, and it has done it several times since,is painful when it happens, and caused my leg to feel stiff. Does anyone know if this is anything to worry about? I'm worried that I may have done something to put it back, or that the surgery hasn't worked.I would be grateful for any advice anyone can give me. Thankyou for reading this.

Thankyou Caliber. I was worried that the pulling at the back of my leg had done something, as it caused the leg to feel stiff, but doesn't seem quite so bad today, so hopefully it wasn't anything.Should I be trying not to bend too much?

Hi Peggy,
It is normal to have pain after surgery in immediate post-operative period. Common after surgery are nerve root damage (1 in 1,000) or bowel/bladder incontinence (1 in 10,000).
If you develop any of following symptoms, then see neurosurgeon at earliest, opening of incision area; increased redness, swelling, pain, drainage or foul odor at the incision site.
A high or persistent fever greater than 101 degrees Fahrenheit.
Difficulty breathing or swallowing, chills, dizziness, leg swelling or tenderness, inability to urinate or loss of control of bladder or bowels.
