progressive profound hearing loss and tinnitus

I am a 43 year old female and over the course of 3-4 years have experienced increased tinnitus and rapid hearing loss. There is no history of hearing problems w/in my family except those associated with normal aging.  In 2007 I noticed a change in my hearing.  I could hear sounds and words but had trouble discerning speech.  My right ear was the first affected.  Tinnitus began and became rapidly worse; initially a hissing sound in my head or a ringing.  I learned to live with it after a while.  About a year ago the noises in my right ear turned into a buzzing sound and when I plugged my left ear with my finger, found I could barely hear anything in my right aside from screeches.  I had occassional dizziness and sometimes fell while walking suddenly.  Occassionally, I would be bending over, straighten up and almost black out completely - my environment disappeared around me for approx 20 seconds during these dizzy episodes.  April 2010 I decided to have myself evaluated by an ENT specialist.  I went through several auditory tests and balance tests.  Nothing was found.  I had an MRI to check for aucoustic neuroma, but there was no tumor. Things did not improve, but rather worsened.  I cannot hear anything out of my right ear and over the past 6-8 months my left ear is exhibiting the same symptoms I experienced in my right ear prior to becoming nearly deaf.  I stopped watching TV and listening to the radio.  My family is angry and frustrated and I am isolated at work. I was placed on steroids and antiinflammatory meds this past week and went for a follow up test today.  The meds did not help.  I am waiting to see a neurologist and also am having bloodwork done to check for Lyme Disease, Hyperthyroidism and Meniere's Disease. The ENT gave me a rental Starkey hearing aid for my left ear and although it's not perfect, it has improved my ability to hear by at least 80%!  Can someone offer some assistance here with a possible diagnosis?  Thanks.
