rare disease

my friend has been in the hospital for about 7 weeks now, he has been having bad pains for over a year , the doctors found out he had breaking of the bones and the disc plates on his neck is all broken , its the tissue that holds the head to the neck now, he also has sarcoid and closed tuberculosis and compressed spine, but the doctors have not actually dignosed what is wrong with him, but now he is presently wearing an halo jacket, but he his still in terrible pains. i would be very glad if his dieases could bee diagnosed before it gets fatal.

How old is your friend now? Is he prone to having fractures before?

One cause that could explain brittle bones which is quite rare is osteogenesis imperfecta which is believed to be due to a genetic defect that causes imperfectly-formed, or an inadequate amount of, bone collagen. There are four types of this condition with type I being the most common. Diagnosis can be made via X-ray and skin biopsy.

You could talk to your friend's doctors on whether it is possible for this disorder to be the cause of his condition.
