ruptured disc

I have been diagnosed with a ruptured disc in my back and the doctor has recommended surgery. discecxtomy. What if i deside to do nothing my pain has gone away from resting but my numbness is still there in my toes.  Will this get worst if i don't get the surgery?

I have five ruptured disks on my upper spine.  I'v had them for years and I don't know how I got them . Through years of pain I have seen meny specialists and they have all said If they did the surgery there was a 50-50 chance I would never walk again. So I tolerate the pain some days good some bad/ See another Dr. could be there are better methods then when I first went. good luck
