sensations of water running under skin tissues, fasciculations, vibrating feeling

4 yrs. ago got sick after going to dominican republic. explosive diarrhea 3 times,chill,ached-that night pronounced jab up high in head-tingling,pricking sensations all over body then sensations of water running down over scalp, face neck. as the years went the sensations of water running was all over my entire body, vibrating, buzzing on feet, skin texture changes, bowel changes, muscle loss of arms, legs. I had 2 spinal taps -first one after 1 year of illness showed white blood cells of 9- doctors don't treat until wbc are at 10. I had 5 brain scans showed lesions but non-specific-they ruled out multiple sclerosis. I had iv igg infusion, plasmapheresis, numerous medications -no relief. One doctor said post viral syndrome, another doctor said I was "nuts" basicaly. Why would a healthy person make something up so strange after an illness. Is there anyone out there that has these symptoms? If so what type of doctor or medications are you taking.  I had shingles 2 months prior going to the dominican republic also. after illness from dominican republic I  also have problems of vision, blurry hard to focus. 24/7 post nasal drainage as well. dry eye, dry mouth- had blood tests for autoimmune diseases-ana, sojgrens etc. all negative. Please  inform me of any help, this had ruined my life with these non-stop feelings. Any information would be much appreciated.

What u are feeling is in fact a parasite.  As u can see this is some kind of outbreak.  I also have these symptoms. I have been to hospital 5 times now and some doctors labled me as crazy.  There was one doctor that told me how it is so hard to detect these kind of things, because there are to many, and more pop up.  Doctors dont like to be defeated, so the ones that lable u crazy are in fact just dumb on the situation.  Wile i was in hospital my 5 times, i witnessed 7 or 8 people with same symptoms.  So i think this is only gonna get worse!

I know exactly what you are going through. I have many progressive neuro symptoms, and no answers. Mine started 18 months ago, just after a holiday in Cuba (another Caribbean destination!). MRI, CT scan, bloodwork all normal. My GP too has indicated it could be in my head! Neurologist can't find any problems. During my last appointment, I had to ask HIM to give me a blood test for Lyme!!! Gotta wait three months for results.... It too is ruining my day to day life. Lets hope we all find answers.

laaz,

If I were you I would type up a list of all your symptoms (be concrete and inclusive) and take it back to your PCP and have him read it.  If he doesn't know what tests to run then ask to be referred to an infectious diseases specialist.  Since your symptoms came on so suddenly and have continued for four years  you very well could have some kind of bacterial or viral infection or post-syndrome/contracted something in the Dom. Republic.

I know exactly what you mean about doctors not putting all the information together and it being piecemeal from one doctor to the next.  That is why you would write down ALL your symptoms and show each doctor in the hopes he/she can figure it out.  I made the mistake of not being assertive enough in the beginning of my illness and too vague, not saying what I intended when I actually got into the doctor's office (though even as I got more assertive/articulate I was still dismissed).  I hope this doesn't continue to happen to you as it clearly has so far.  If you still can't get any answers I would ask to be referred to a major medical center (Cleveland Clinic, Mayo, etc) where they would better be able to put together all the info hopefully.  Don't let body continue to deteriorate with no diagnosis or treatment to stem the course of whatever is making you sick.

I have been tested for hiv , std's. I live in wisconsin but i was completly healthy until i went to the dominican republlic.
I would really love to know what happened to me. I can't find any answers. I  think I caught a virus that or that something happened to my nervous system. central nervous system or something on that order. All I know is that I am not "crazy" or just anxious these feeling, sensations whatever you want to call them , are  there, it is just finding a doctor that will take interest in their patient and their complaints and not just put them on antidepressants thinking it is just all in your  head or something. all the doctors i have been to just don't put together all my problems that started in the dominican republic.  This is ruining my life, if you want to call this a life.  Thanks for your in put....

You need to see an infection disease specalist!!!!!!  I've traveled the world and there are nasty bugs, i've caught one before.  Also, have you been checked for STD's, such as HIV?

II went to an infectious disease doctor in miami, florida- he did not take any test- i had 2 stool cultures done came back negative. One doctor gave me medication for parasites just in case, they did not work either. I can not remember if i mentioned or not that i also have skin texture changes, and also not muscle weakness but muscle seem to be getting smaller. I had an emg test 2 years ago and it was ok they said.  I had a sweat test and an autonomic nervous system test done they came back normal too. These water running, muscle twitching, buzzing feelings are driving me insane. Especially on my face 24/7 it never stops.  I don't think i ever had a lymes test done, i have so many medical reports that i can't keep them straight. Has anyone ever heard of such weird sensations and symptoms before. Any information would be greatly appreciated.  All my symptoms took 2 years into my illness to consume my entire body down to my feet. any help anyone?

You need to have an in depth lyme disease workup....  Also, i would consult an infectious disease specialist or an internist.  I would say this is not neuromuscular.  I would schedule an appt. at Mayo Clinic!  Good luck
