My daughter had a soccer accident April 22, 2007: broken tibia, torn ACL, nerve damage (drop foot).
I've taken my daughter (Sara, 15 yrs. old) to the emergency room, regular physician, had MRI done, two orthopaedic specialists, and two physical therapists. Almost five months later nothing has changed. Would a neurosurgeon be the next step? Is there something else that can be done? These doctors want her to wait for the nerve to regenerate, is there a way to find out if it is damaged enough to be repaired by surgery or if it is in fact regenerating on its own. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. She's hoping she'll be able to swim this season.
