unknown head pain

Hello,
I am a 40 year old mother of 3 . A little over a week ago after returning from taking my oldest daughter back to Cornell I started getting a tenderness in my entire head and face area. It hurts to touch any part of my face, head or neck but rubbing it relieves it. The pain feels like sore muscles. It isn't a headache. I went to the doctor he said it was sinuses even though i have no nasal problems at all not even a drip. My scalp every inch hurts. My chin hurts. My jaw hurts. Just everywhere. I can pick any spot above my shoulders at any given time to start rubbing and I would get an instant relief from the achey muscles. The second the rubbing stops the tense muscle feeling is back. My head feels very heavy and I am allways leaning it on something for support. I had a very small fever the other day of 99.4 but it went away as fast as at came. I had no injuries of any kind the only thing I can think of is I have been under alot of stress. The pain is worse at the point where my jaw opens, when i push up on my eye's where the top of my nose is, on the balls of my neck on both sides in the back and on the very top of my head just where it curves to the back but it does ache everywhere. I did overhear the nurse talking to the doctor in the clinic that I went to and she was asking him about me and if he had ever heard of anything like this before but he didn't seem to reply. He came right into my room and started asking me a bunch of questions all of which I had said no to. They took a tone of blood and a urine sample he said i have a urine infection but again I have no problems in that area. I got a call yesterday from him wanting me to go back in for more blood work something about my thyroid. Any ideas? The doctor doesn't seem to really be doing anything about what I went to go see him for in the first place and I need relief from this pain somehow. Sorry for such a long comment I am just so frustrated at this point. Thank you for reading.

Honey,Don't let dr's bully you, and make you feel as if your pain is just stress related. That seems to be how women are treated when they have pain. I will imagine if a man went to them with the same pain, they would take it seriously. Sorry, but am very frustrated also, and very tired of dr's not doing their jobs, and just trying to mask any problem with a pain pill, and not finding out what might be the actual problem. To me, the body isn't in severe pain, just because of stress. I do understand that stress can make one sick, and cause muscle spasms, but not unremiting, severe pain. I sure hope we all get some "real" answers, and get some respect from the dr's and hopefully they will realize we are in real pain. Sorry bout rambling, just another chronic pain woman that is totally burned out.

Sometimes you have to take the bull by the horns.  I went from general doctor to
emergency room where I had a CT scan that showed nothing abnormal to calling a
neurologist and making my own appointment.  It will take me a month to get in to
see him but a lot of my symptoms are like yours except all my soreness is in the
back of my head and on top.  The pills that were prescribed to me did nothing, skelactin,
relaxfix, darvocets and anitryipiline.  I found some of my dad's (he is deceased) nerve
pills Oxypham 15 mg. and I have been taking 3 a day.  This seems to be the only thing
that is helping me at this time.  Just biding my time until I get to the neurologist.  I don't
know if the pain is from anxiety or the pain is causing my anxiety, I have had a lot of
stress in the past 2 years, my florist business burnt down and my oldest daughter was
killed in an accident and I didn't have these headaches then unless it is accumulated
stress and it is all coming out now.  I don't know since I am not a doctor and I thought I
was tough enough to cope with it at the time but maybe not.  Hope you get some
help soon.  It is very depressing and frustrating to have continual pain.
