vision problems

once or twice a year i will have vision spasims (thats what i call it). what happens is i will see double, but i can feel my right eye jumping(for lack of better word) if i cover my left eye i literally see everything going up and down as if i were jumping up and down when i was perfectly still. when this happens i cant focus, its harder for me to look around and i cant make it stop it starts and stops by its self ive tryed closing my eyes for a minute or looking at something different but there nothing specific that starts it. i consulted my eye doctor and he found nothing wrong with my eye but he did  mention that it sounded like some kind of neurological problem or maybe a type of epilepsy. this has been going on for about six years. and it only happens maybe once or twice a year in a month or two span where it comes and goes. i have no history of epilepsy. i have mild ADD, asthma, depression, and various allergys? no one seems to be able to give me answers and they seem to think its not a problem. but for me it is i never know when its goning to happen and sometimes i happens while im driveing and thats not safe. i hope u can give me some insight on what might be going on. thank you so much

Hello.

Well, it does seem to be nystagmus, but may not be due to your current medication. An ophthalmologist will be able to judge the situation more correctly. You will need to consult him again. An elctronystagmogram will also be helpful.

The past medication does not seem to have caused this. Do you get any retro-orbital (back of the eye ) pain ?

im not sure if he was an ophthalmologist or an optometrist.

currently i am taking cingular, zrytec( not sure on spelling but its the one that has recently gone over the counter) and yaz birthcontrol..

these sympomes with my eye have been happening for the past six years. the medicine above i have only been taking for maybe a year to two years and cingular ive been taking on and off for about 5 years.

past medications involve ritalin(sp. for ADD) concerta, prozac( its been about a year since i last took that and prior to that it was on and off) and various anti biotics,

Hello.

Have you been examined by an Ophthalmologist ?

I suspect some medication side effect. What are you taking for Depression and other disorders ? May be, one of the medicines is causing the nystagmus (involuntary movement of the eyeball).
