weird sensations on my right side of head & face/cheeck

I get this weird sensation in my scalp/head and face area. It starts around the top of my head and then kinda goes toward the back of head or into my face. It is not numb nor does it hurt, but it is freaky and causes me to have a lot of anxiety. Some times it last a few seconds sometimes it last for maybe an hour, some days I never get it some days it happens all day off & on.   This has been going on for about a year now.

Thank you,

Gayler

I have the same exact thing since Jan '08.  I actually went to the ER because the first time it happened, I became quite numb on the right side.  I was worried about having a stroke.  They did all sorts of tests on me and haven't found much except for a couple of white spots on my MRI.  Anyway, I used to get the symptoms you described all the time (we're talking 5-7 days out of the week).  In June '08, after everything major have been ruled out, I began seeing a therapist and learned that anxiety could caused these symptoms.  Now that I have a better grip on my anxiety, I'm feeling less and less of those symptoms.  I do notice that when I start getting really anxious, my face starts to tingle and my scalp would feel like something is crawling through it.

I had a CT 2 years ago that was normal and blood work last week that was all normal, my doc doesn't seem concerned at all.  Mine is better now that my sinuses are clearing up and of course when I'm not so anxious I don't notice the sensation.  I still think it might have something to do with the fluid in my ears pressing on a nerve or something along those lines.  As far as sinus surgery, I don't think I would do it, but I don't want to influence your decision on that.  My friend at work had this surgery last year for chronic sinusitis and cysts, she did great for a few months afterwards but now I notice her taking pain relievers at least 3 times a week at work for sinus headaches and she seems to have sinus infections just as much as me and I haven't had the surgery.  We were both sick together last week with this mess! lol  I just wonder though if this really is sinus infections or just bad allergies!

First of all thank you for your comment. It is funny you mention your sinus problems, I went to an ENT for the first time 2 months ago and he said I needed surgery because I have severe deviated septum, cyst and major sinus problems so maybe that’s what mine is too. But I freak out because I can be sitting and working and all of a sudden I get this weird sensation in my head/scalp and it goes around my eye and also into my cheek. I get tired after it happens but I guess that is from the anxiety, I have had like 2 MRI's in the last year and 2 cat scans and they found nothing (THAT IS GOOD)! It just makes me mad that they can not tell me what it is. I hope things go well for you keep me posted.
By the way I have not decided if I will have surgery on my sinus yet?

I have a weird sensation on my head as well, mine feels cold like cold air lightly blowing on my head in a linear pattern, like it's following along a nerve and starts at top of my forehead over the top and down the back of my head, it also causes me a lot of anxiety!  My doctor didn't seem concerned and said its probably just some weird nerve sensation that people get from time to time, I notice mine seems to come on when I have sinus congestion and allergies and the doctor also thought that might be related.  My sensation sometimes last a few seconds or it can last on and off all day and some days not at all.   I'm not sure if your sensation is like mine but I know it can drive you crazy!  See my post from 10/19/08
