laminoforaminotomy

I was diagnosed with a herniated C6-C7 disk that is pressing on the left nerve root that cause pain in my left arm (tricep, elbow, forearm, wrist) and numbness and tingling in my index and thumb. Weakness in my left tricep.
EMG showed weakness in tricep.
I tried epidural injection but it did not alleviate the pain.
my doc said i dont need ACDF of ADR, but instead he could do a laminoforaminotomy using METRX.
what is your thought on this procedure and if the problem started oct 2007 will i recover and regain strength or will the damage be permanent.

Dr Nassim.
I am confused by your comments recommending a Corpectomy with cage insertion.
I do not have central root impingement, or myelopathy.
The herniation is clearly affecting the nerve root causig radiculopathy.
Why would you recommend that procedure over an ACDF or laminoforaminotomy which are the two indicated procedures to treat cervical disc herniations affecting the nerve root and not the spinal cord.
