fear and ocd

by j1212a, Oct 21, 2009 09:17PM
The other day i read a book on fear that really helped with my ocd. Most of us have this condition because of the chemical imbalance in our brain makes us keep checking and checking to see if we can somehow magically get rid of this fear (sometimes we arn't ever aware that we are checking). However, we all know our ocd is irrational and is completley not who we really are, it creates a paradox, making the sufferer into believing what he most dreads. In this book it said to explore the "unknown". The only way to stop suffering is by "not caring". Does anyone find it true that the more you care about what your fear is the more likely it is to become true. No matter how many times you check, the fear never goes away. I think that the only way to permanently get rid of ocd is living "fearless". This is something i aspire to accomplish everyday in my life. Living without fear is a dream for all ocd people- from HOCD to disturbing images- if we all could just live without fear, life would be a lot more enjoyable. Although fear is innate, it is how we deal with it- embrace fear, love it, laugh at it. Does anyone agree that fear is the mindkiller, only strengthening our ocd?
