is it OCD or Tourettes

My daughter has been clearing her throat/coughing, sniffing, head jerking for the past few years.  She did not do this as a child.  She is now 31 years old and it seems to be getting worse.  She has serious anxiety problems and has been on Paxil for a few years.  It doesn't seem to alleviate the anxiety problem but she has tried seroquel and she said that makes her feel almost suicidal.  I'm extremely concerned and I don't know whether she should see a neurologist or a therapist.  Her father had tics as well but they seemed to change...one would stop and he would develop a new one.  She went through a phase where she pulled out her eyebrows and eyelashes but that has stopped.  Can anyone offer any advice??

huh, wow ok so I have recently been doing the exact same thing, but im pretty, sure that  you can't get tourrettes if you're over the age of 18, I have always suffered from Severe OCD but I also did the sniffing and jerking te head and throat cearing, I also have to hum, Im certain that that is Tourrettes, im only 18 now, BUT it is possible she has been able to hide it for a while, I had the tourrettes problem for years before anyone noticed I hide it very well not even my parents noticed another thing was my eyes twitching, but recently I've been under a lot of stress and haven't been able to be discreet about these things maybe she suffers from both like me, I usially distract myself byt listening to music or reading or just doing somethng that will keep me occupied and my condition has gotten better anxiety and stress are a major problem with these conditions, also with the head jerking thing, I did it for so long I actaully gave myself reacurring headaches I was in alot of pain, maybe she should concentrate on trying to stop that first, maybe meditation sorry if I  was no help
