obsessive thoughts

My daughter is 4 years old soon to be 5 and has for the past two years been planning her wedding. She talks about it most of the day for hours on end and has planned everything. She has made up a name of the person she will marry, she know the exact design of her wedding cake, she has planned out who she want to make the cake. She has pointed out to us the car that her husband is going to pick her up in, the color of the interior and exterior, the lights that will light up on the dashboard, what time they will leave, how many flowers she will have in her bouquet, every detail of what their house is going to look like. She will cry for us to give her home owner magazines so she can get choose the best house. No kidding she talks non stop anyway, but most of what she talks about is her wedding and this has been going on for over two years. She also has developed several tics that are increasing in length and frequency. My question is could this be OCD even though her obsession is not like washing her hand frequently because of a fear of germs, but rather just obsessive thoughts?
Any help would be very appreciated, thanks!!!

I really have a strong feeling this might not be OCD, however this is my opinion from personal expereince (since I have it), I am not a doctor.

OCD is an anxiety disorder if her "tics" invovle something to disperse whatever anxiety she has it could probably be OCD. The persistance of her planning her wedding though.. thats doesn't sound like something related to OCD. Just basing it off of myself and from people I've known they don't particularly enjoy their habits, where it sounds like your daughter likes to plan out her wedding. That and no one I've known has developed their symptoms that young. I was 10 when my germaphobic OCD started and before then I played in the dirt and played with bugs.

My opinion: go get your daugther properly diagnoised with a good pediatric psychiatrist. They'd  to be able help find out whats wrong with your daughter.

Read the above article

OCD and Tourette's are two different disorders. OCD is characterized by ritualistic and obsessive behavior that interferes with daily life. If your daughter's obsession is interfering with learning or socializing then perhaps it could be classified as OCD. As far as the tics, Tourette's syndrome is diagnosed clinically by vocal and non-vocal tics over at least a year in a child under 18. A pediatric neurologist would need to accurately diagnosis this.

It sounded like a behavioral pattern that just got carried away until you described that she had tics. Since people with Tourrette's Syndrome have tics and ocd is often associated with that, its possible. I would go to a child psychologist and if warranted a psychiatrist but the best option if ocd is diagnosed is (constructive) behavioral therapy because unless something is severely wrong, considering the age its best to try all other options before medication.
