Severe Ankle Problems

I have currently seen 2 doctors and I am scheduled to see an orthopedic but not for a week and a half and i need some help or something to ease my mind please.  I was running and inverted my ankle inward.  I went to the ER and although there was not a break they said they i had muscle tissue tearing and fluid throughout my ankle and referred me to my primary care physician. My primary care physician said that there was nothing he could do for me but refer me to an orthopedic and he would take it from there to fix my ankle.  I haven't had an MRI yet because they said the orthopedic would schedule an MRI.  They put a hard splint that goes from my toes to my knee around the back and up the sides, but does not cover the front.  They gave me crutches and pain meds and said styay off of it until I go to the orthopedic.  I have had reconstructed surgery on my right ankle before but the underlying condition for that doesn't seem to have the same symptoms and the pain isnt the same as i am currently feeling in my left ankle. I also have chroni ankle problems.  I can just be walking on flat ground aand at any given time my ankles just give way and invert on me and i fall over.  Does anyone know how they would fix muscle tissue tearing and excess fluid in my ankle? And how long do you think i am going to have to wear this cast for. I lead a very active lifestyle and am in the military so these ankle problems are really slowing me down!!

Based on the information you provided, it's really difficult to give you any advice.  Your injury could be anything from a ruptured achilles tendon, to a mild muscle strain, to a sprained ligament. After you see the orthopedist, get back if you have more questions

I think Micheal has rightly suggested that you have not provided enough information on which we could reach to any conclusion. but still I advised you to go to some orthopedic specialists
