Is numbness of the foot a normal feeling after achillies rupture repair

During 6 weeks in a cast for achillies tendon rupture I had the odd shooting sensations in the side of the foot and was told that this was normal. Since removing the cast, I have had this numbness in both the heel and side of my foot as well as in the outer side of my ankle  for 3 days. Is this normal?
