Clicky Painful big Toe

For about a year now ive had a clicky big toe, when you feel the joing, you can feel the joint click, sometimes i get painful sharp pains and the frequency of the clicking increases after PE, ive had an Xray which came back clear but even the doctor who ive seen recently admits something is wrong so theyve said see how it goes, they first diagnosed me with arthritis when i was 15 but now they said it isnt and they dont know what could be causing it.  This problem is causing me discomfort, Does anyone know what it could be or had the same experience,

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi there!

Well, without a detailed clinical evaluation it would be difficult to determine the cause of the symptoms. With structural issues ruled out on the x-ray, possibilities that may need to be considered include stress fractures, inflammation, injuries to tendons/ ligaments, neuro-muscular causes etc. I would suggest getting this evaluated by an orthopedician for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate management.
Hope this is helpful.

Take care!
