Growth on my ribs (and knee)

Growth on my ribs (and knee)

I had two separate impacts (one from a motorcycle and one from playing rugby) to bony areas. The motorcycle impact was on the top of the tibia just below the kneecap. The second impact was to my rib while playing rugby. Neither was broken (the rib sure felt broken, but the x-ray indicated otherwise) but a small growth of about 1" in diameter and .25" - .5" high has grown on each area. They are also fairly painful to pressure. When I lay on my stomach, the position of the growth can't bear weight. It doesn't seem terribly serious, so I haven't approached my primary, but it doesn't seem right either. And I can't find any references on the internet. Does this sound familiar? If so, what would it be and how can I get rid of it?

Thanks,

Any pain is due to inflammationa after injury. In the process of accident if you do not have fracture then you might be having some associated, ligament/tendon/muscle injury. These are also painful and take time in healing. For the correct approach of healing and to have eventless future you should be under the supervision of a Physician. Take care!

Thank you for the info! The one on the rib is definately painfull and I'll ask my physician about how to remedy the situation. Hypothetically, if a patient had this when coming to you, what would you indicate?

Thanks again!

I would see if the patient is able to breath easily & check for the X-ray. If the breathing is easy and the X-ray is clean then anti inflammatory drugs & rest would do wonders. Take care!
