Is a hemangioma the cause of my back pain

A few months ago I started to have lower back pain, it started out mild and has done nothing but get worse! In the morning I am ok my back does not hurt when I first get up. As the day goes on it gets worse and worse. By 5 or 6 I have a limp in my walk and Sitting down is the hardest part for me. I have been to my dr he first ordered a lumbar xray which said I had degenertive in L5-S1 and mild scolis than he has orderd an MRI now I always get a copy of my report before I go to the dr. The MRI shows buldging disks in L1-L2, but that has been there since the last MRI 2 years ago but it also says there is a hemangioma on L5 but it does Not say a size or anything else about it!! This was not in my last MRI. I have googled a lil bit but is this what could be causing my back pain?? Is there more tests I should request. Oh and I already have osteropenia also So I know my back is only going to get worse as I get older but I am Only 30 and there has to be something I can do or at least I hope so!!!

Hello!

If your past MRI 2 years ago showed bulging discs in the lumbar region, it sure has progressed to cause the symptoms in your lower limbs. You have to undergo lifestyle changes and decrease the degenerative disc disease to progress.

The spinal nerves from your lower back (lumbar region) innervate  your lower limbs and any compression of the nerve roots causes pain in your legs.

The hemangioma can contribute still further and it is important to understand the location of the tumor.

I would suggest you to follow up with an orthopedician or a neurosurgeon.

Take NSAIDs and apply hot packs on your lower back to reduce the pain and inflammation.

Take care!
