We need to find another hematologist. I am starting to wear down
Thanks for your response. We went to the hematologist and he took discontinued the Warfarin Can you imagine? He has severe jaw pain and the possibility of tetanus crossed my mind. we went to a nuerologist and he ordered a bone scan to rule out osteonecrosis. They finally have the radioactive isotope. This is so frustrating and the pain that my son has to endure is beyond words . He has had this ongoing severe jaw pain and is also having muscle spasms in his face and he can feel them all through his body. in regards to TETANUS we need an infection control specialist. Is there any special tests for tetanus or is it just clinical?
Hi Joey,
You mentioned earlier that your son had MTHFR and APC.
MTHFR refers to the enzyme "Methylene-Tetra-Hydro-Folate-Reductase", while APCR refers to "Activated Protein C Resistance".
Basically these terms refer to a disorder of the blood caused by a gene mutation to which forms the MTHFR enzyme. This can lead to a condition called Thrombophilia, which means that the body will have an increased tendency to form blood clots.
Please show your son to a hematologist, who may put him on oral drugs, and monitor his blood coagulation parameters periodically.
Hi,
From when is he suffering from hip pain. Was the x-ray of the Hip joint taken and if taken what was his report.
HE WAS NEVER DIAGNOSED YET,BUT THEY ARE SUSPICIOUS OF THE OSTEONECROSIS BECAUSE OF HIS CLOTTING DISORDERS ( METHFR AND RESISTANT ACTIVATED PROTEIN C]. THIS IS WHY THEY WOULD LIKE TO DO A BONE SCAN WHICH WE CAN'T GET DONE DUE TO SHORTAGE OF THE ISOTOPE. NOW HE IS GETTING PAINS IN HIS HIPS
Hi,
Sorry. Have no knowledge about Canada.
How was he diagnosed to have osteonecrosis. Was he on frequent radiation to the head and neck region.
HIS MANDIBLE WAS NEVER XRAYED. THE ORAL SURGEON DID A PANOREX,WHICH SHOWED TOOTH ROOT IN THE MAXILLARY SINUS AND A SINUS SCAN WAS DONE. WHEN I WENT TO TALK TO THE DENTIST HERE HE SAID THERE IS SOMETHING ON THE SCANS BUT HE DOES NOT KNOW WHAT IT IS AND REFERRED HIM TO ORAL MAXILLARY SURGEON. I WONDER ABOUT OTHER PATHOLOGY GOING ON . BACK TO THE BONE SCAN,I EVEN CALLED MAINE MEDICAL BECAUSE RIGHT NOW I WOULD EVEN PAY FOR IT,BUT NOBODY IS BOOKING BECAUSE OF THE RADIOACTIVE ISOTOPE SHORTAGE. MY SON CAN NOT FUNCTION.HE CAN NOT WORK BECAUSE OF THE DEBILITATING PAIN WHICH NEVER GOES AWAY. IF YOU KNOW OF A PLACE THAT IS BOOKING THEM PEASE LET ME KNOW. WE ARE IN N.B.CANADA.. I KNOW SOMETHING IS BEING MISSED
Sorry about that's going on with your son.
With relation to what you have posted,
Since one of your sibling had tested positive for FAP and ulcerative colitis, the other son is placed under risk category though he has tested negative. Hence it would be advisable to have screening procedure done on annual basis or as per your surgeon's advice.
With respect to the current problem, about the bone scan to be taken, do have it done in some other center close to your residence at the earliest. What was the x-ray mandible results.
THANKS ,ONCE AGAIN.. IT IS SO FRUSTRATING. HE HAS A WEAK POSITIVE LUPUS AND HAS RECTAL BLEEDING ALSO. MY OTHER SON HAD FAMILIAL ADENOMA POLYPOSIS/ ULCERATIVE COLITIS. THIS IS A LONG STORY AND I AM TRYING TO SHORTEN IT.MY SON THAT IS PRESENTLY ILL, TESTED NEG FOR FAP AND I KNOW EVEN IF YOU ARE NEG FOR THE DISEASE THERE ARE VARIATIONS. WHEN HE SAW THE ORAL SURGEON THERE W AS A TOOTH ROOT IN THE MAXILLARY SINUS WHICH WAS REMOVED . HE DEVELOPED ORAL ULCERS WHICH WERE BIOPSIED WHICH THEY WERE SUSPICOUS FOR VACULITIS,BUT IT SHOWED INFLAMMATION
Hi,
Positive ANA sounds that your son does have connective tissue disorder.
Sorry, not able to follow METHFR and APCR.???????
Looks bad that you have been pushed to one corner to another
Thanks for your help.the eent specialist recommended a bone scan and now there is a shortage of the radioactive isotope .This is for my son ,he also METHFR and APCR and a positive ANA. We went to a oral surgeon and he referred him to a neurologist
