Not sure what to do

Alright where to start...i've had ongoing knee problems for years..had a blood clot, 2 athros & one big surgery where the surgeon broke my shin bone and pushed my knee cap up..anyways last month i started getting really bad knee pains, cracks, stiffness etc...I waited a week and it did not get better so I went to E.R...they referred me to an ortho where I moved (my other one is located where my family lives) he wants to get an MRI but I have to get the screws out which is fine and dandy..well i get them out April 1st and he's putting me under...but  my MRI is not til May 31st...and every few steps I take makes my eyes water and I just can't wait that long..especially because I'm a welder and I need to get to work and be able to crouch etc.

I'm not sure what exactly to do..should I call him up and try and figure something out?..my last surgeon didn't even give me an MRI the 2nd time around he just went in with the scope..i mean he is putting me under anyway so why not scope it?..I don't know..i'm just really frustrated and hurting and don't know what to do..any suggestions? Personally I know my knee is messed,..i've lived with it long enough to know when it's something serious or something that will go away..but he's a new doctor to me and doesn't really know my history which ***** for me

Well I know the hardware  can come out because they've been in for 3yrs...due to it not really bothering me...Xray was fine

after I had gotten my last surgery 3years ago..once I healed I've been fine since up until about a month ago when it started up....I was actually able to book and emergency appointment with him for this following Thursday..so i'm going to see if there's an alternative like doing a scope the same day as my hardware removal..as walking puts me in tears again

I really appreciate your reply..and either way I will be going for the MRI at the end of May

Hello!

It is necessary to understand your healing so get some scans done both X-ray and MRI and if healing is complete you can go for removal of hardware.

It is necessary to strengthen your quadriceps or thigh muscles to properly do weight bearing and for reducing stress on your knees. Discuss with your orthopedician

Ask a radiologist to comment on your MRI to understand bone healing and to confirm if all your ligaments are intact.

Take care!
