Plantar Fasciitis..Advised to take alcohol injections as treatment.Really worried!!

I am 29 yr old female.I am having plantar fasciitis since 8 months.I have pain in the heel of the foot. Also I experience pain in the inside of the heel whenever I put pressure on my feet while walking.I had been to podiatrist yesterday. After taking a look at the X-rays, he suggested it could be nerve entrapment and he will try giving the alcohol injections to kill the nerve.
Can you please tell me what are the symptoms of nerve entrapment.I really do not want to take the injections.Does anyone have similar experience?Would it be advisable to take a second opinion before going for a treatment?

Hi there!

A nerve entrapment would feel like a pricking/ pinching/ burning sensation and quite similar to a plantar fasciitis. It would be difficult to make out a nerve entrapment based on x-rays alone, besides alcohol to destroy the nerve isn’t advised at the outset and other measures like injection of local anesthetic should provide temporary relief. I would suggest seeking a second opinion with an orthopedician for an accurate diagnosis and suggestion of an appropriate management plan.
Hope this is helpful.

Take care!
