Problems getting up from seated position and walking downstair

Have discomfort behind both knees although a little more severe in the right knee. Has been getting worse gradually. It's very hard for me to get up and stand up from a seated position. This includes in the morning getting up out of bed.  Almost impossible to get out of the tub.  Takes me a long time to negotiate the stairs when going down them. Sometimes feel like my leg will give way.  Feel a little crunching too.

Thank you Dr. Vinod. Someone also reccommended Glucosamine Condroitin.  I wear New Balance sneakers all the time. Are these ok or is there a walking shoe that is better?

Hello!

I would suggest you to get your knees examined and rule out any ligament damage and osteoarthritis. There are 3 pairs of ligaments in your knee: menisci, cruciates and collaterals. Scans of your knee will be helpful. ( X-rays and MRI )

I would suggest you to continue physical exercise with proper footwear and also limit pressure at your knee. You can go for swimming if you can and also follow up with an orthopedician for proper diagnosis and try to achieve normal BMI.

Take care!
