Shoulder Bone Spur Level 3

I played competitive racquetball for years and would get cortisone shots about twice a year. Recently I fell out of bed trying to hit my snooze alarm (no laughing) and did a one eighty and landed on my right shoulder.  Good news I was wake back news it hurt like hell.  I had no range of motion and was in a lot of pain.  I went to an orthopedic doctor and he did a MRI to rule out a rotator cuff tear. No tear but he said of have a level three bone spur. He gave me two shots of cortisone one right into the joint of my shoulder and recommended PT.

I am in my third week of PT and I while I have some range of motion I feel like I getting worse.  My shoulder throbs down my arm and at times into my elbow and wrist.  Is this normal? Will PT make the bone spur go away? Will I ever be able to play racquetball again?  While I am 48 I still love the game.

It seems to be getting worse with PT.  They have backed off the resistant bands for now and claim I am just having a set back.

I can raise my arm straight out in front of me to about 90 degrees and to my side about 90 degrees but anything higher is very painful and when I try to lower my arm from the position I have a stabbing pain.

When do you recommend.  I am very frustrated and want results and I just being an impatient baby?  One more question what does level three mean?

I wish someone would have answered your questions. From what I know PT certainly won't help your bone spur problems. I am having surgery on Monday to get rid of mine. I also got worse with PT. I have no clue why they make people go through that. It makes absolutely no sense to me even when they are explaining it.
I'm not sure about ever being able to play raquetball again. I hope you will be able too.
I'll let you know how surgery turns out for me.
I have no clue what level 3 means. I'll have to ask my surgeon what "level" mine are. I'm guessing you'll need surgery too so you can feel better.

Take care.

You and me both.  I can hardly blow dry my hair or wash it and even typing has become painful.  I hope someone can shead some light on this for us.  Thanks for your post.

Although I don't have any real answers for you I am going to watch your message to see what people have to say. I too was sent to PT for arthritis and bone spurs. My therapist agreed that it wasn't doing any good for me and actually I got worse doing those mild stretches. I hope someone has some advise for you.
