Still pain in ankle one year after surgery

I had surgery on my right ankle over a year ago and it still bothers me. Something is also clicking in my foot. It hurts at times and is stiff at times as well. My knee also bothers me especially when I am standing or kneeling for some time. I injured iwhen I accidently kicked a ball over a fence and then climbed the 5 foot fence (a little over my height), and then twisted my body around to avoid my neighbor's garden and landed awkwardly in a hole. I fell and heard a huge pop. My ankle never healed as I had fractured it, also torn ligaments and damaged one of my tendons. This is why I needed surgery because it never healed properly. But it stil bothers me over one year after surgery. Could my knee may have been injured also from that twisting I did? Do you think there is still something wrong in my ankle after that surgery?

My ankle also clicks still even a year after surgery.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Cassie

Thank you for replying.  I called my ankle surgeon a couple of days ago and he said it could be inflammation and I will need a cortisone shot.   I am scheduled for a cortisone injection this Friday.

But why is my ankle still clunking this long after surgery?

I have been to physio therapy after my ankle surgery, but it did help up to a point until I was done with it and months later, I started to have pain in my ankle.

My knee also is bothering me.  Is that caused by radiating pain from my ankle?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Complete healing of ligaments only would take place with rest. After rest another most important thing is physiotherapy, which should be very slow and with increasing strengths you should exert pressure. You have to rate your pain in a 1 to 10 scale. If your pain is similar to before surgery visit your Orthopaedician and if it is low then rest assure it will take time to decrease and you are going in the right directions. Take care!
