I have the same problem but mine is hard to explain. Several years ago I slipped on hydraulic fluid and
Handed on my tailbone. It feels like a piece of it had been chipped off because there is no roundness its squared off. Now I found out I have degenerative disk in the L1 area of my back. I have had spinal menigitious two time and had fluid removed both times, just wondering if any of this could be related to the continuous pain in my lower back. Also have a burning numbness in my right hand that almost brings me to tears and even wakes me up at night.
Hey, Well if it makes you feel any better I have the same problem. I went to an orthopedic doctor about it and he said he'd never seen anyone with one as bad as mine. He told me about 100,000 people across the United States have it. I have grown to be comfortable with mine and even make jokes about it with my friends. I hope you can get over the self-consciousness because people truly won't judge you as harshly as you feel they will.
Well, I went to see an orthopedic surgeon and had a couple x-rays done. Turns out the only thing wrong is that my sacrum is curved out much more than average. He said having it removed could cause all sorts of problems in my future, and it would be difficult to find a doctor willing to do it. He also said he can't shave the bone down because it would weaken the bone. So basically I have to live with it. The problem is I'm so self-conscious about it that I'm not living up to my potential...especially when it comes to intimate relationships. So I've started going back to the gym, do you think that by building up my butt muscles could help cover my sacrum? Or maybe some form of plastic surgery?
Thank you for your advice. Are you a doctor? I am wondering if there is anything a doctor could do in the case of a sacrum that is sticking out. Maybe shave down the bone? I just don't want someone to tell me I need to just learn to live with it..
I would advise you to see a orthopedic doctor and they could preform an x ray to see what could be done. Doctors come across embarrassing situations for patients all the time so you wont be the first that they have met with. The most important thing is to make you comfortable and hiding from the issue wont solve anything. My doctor at Mercy http://www.mercyonline.org/orthopedics.aspx was fabulous when I had back surgery. If mercy's orthopedic locations don't work for you I'm sure they could recommend someone in your area. Good luck.
