What the Heck is Going On w/My Knee?

Hi guys, I'm new to this community so I apologize if I'm doing anything wrong. I can't afford the fee to post in the expert forums so I hope you guys can help me out. About 6 weeks ago I went to a chiropractor for some slight back pain and found out that I have severe inflammation all throughout my back, as well as a tilted pelvis, my left knee rotates outward and that causes my left foot arch to collapse. I went through about 4 sessions of treatment before I called it quits because my back and knee were in major pain and the dr kept pushing costly treatments. I plan on attending a Physical Therapist this summer once I can afford it. Anyways this brings me to my knee. Sometimes when I step down on it, like on stairs or even getting up from a chair too fast or just walking normally, I will feel a sharp (almost like electrocution) pain throughout the entire kneecap area. It is enough to make it buckle before I catch myself. After the chiropractor, it has been happening around 2 or so times a week which is way more than it used to. Sometimes my knee hurts when I'm walking, but only as I push my foot up to put my other foot out. It is always a sharp pain. Sometimes it feels uncomfortable too. It is hard to explain. What is wrong with my knee? I have hurt both of my knees before but they were pretty much just flesh wounds. In fact the one that I hurt worse was my right knee, not my left. I am almost 18 so it's not like I have arthritis or something. I want to know what is wrong. Has anyone had experiences like this?

You are indeed too young for this to be a Arthritic problem in nature. I hope you have scheduled a appt with a orthopod. He/She will want 3 or 4 x-ray views (AP/Lat/Oblique and possibly Sunrise). Personally, I think a MRI will show your problem (but you've got to go through the motions first), which to me sounds like a Meniscal tear. A outside chance of Patella-Femoral Syndrome. It's hard to diagnose without a "hands-on" examination. Best of luck - I would love to hear what he/she finds! jd1963
