calcaneus fracture

I suffered a mild calcaneus fracture 3 months ago in a basketball accident.  I landed on someones foot coming down with rebound and severely sprained my ankle causing the fracture.  I was on crutches for 2 months and walking in an aircast for another month.  I have mild pain with every step i take and severe almost crippling pain when i put weight on the outside of my foot.  Is this at all normal.  I managed to get an MRI schedule.  What is the likely outcome of this visit.  Is surgery likely?  My doctor said all x-rays are now clean.

Was there any possibility pointing to a possible Achilles Tendon issue?

Hello!

If X-rays are clean then you can also confirm proper soft tissue healing by an MRI. If everything is fine you will not need any surgery.

There is pain due to prolonged stiffness and you can take intermittent NSAIDs when you are starting physiotherapy.

Go for MRI and rule out any complications by following up with your orthopedician.

Take care!
