Hello!

After removal of cast it is always good to go for another X-ray to know the status of the healing.
The stiffness what he is facing is normal  while in a cast and with some therapy he would be fine. Tell him to start slowly and with improvement of movements and decreasing pain he can go ahead.

Take care!
