hard lump at the bottom of my finger

I have a hard lump at the base of my little finger. It doesn't hurt and it is not movable. It seems to be attached to the bone. It is under my skin. What can it be? Should I worry? Thank you.

Hello,

thak you very much for your reply. It doesn't seem to be a bony outgrouth. It is hard but not as hard as bone. I will see the GP in 10 days time but from previous epxerience they don't really look into these things. They sent me home saying it's nothing to worry about. This is why I wanted to get an idea of what it might be and if there is a chance it could be something sinister I would go private and have checked by a specialist but I don't want to waste money if it it's nothing to worry about.

Many thanks.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi there!

Well, without a clinical evaluation it would be difficult to determine the cause of lump. If it appears to be hard and attached to the bone it is likely to be a bony outgrowth like osteoma etc; though growths arising from the surrounding connective tissue could appear similar. I would suggest getting this examined by a primary care physician and depending on the diagnosis made/ suspected it can be managed accordingly (if required) or specialist care may be sought.
Hope this is helpful.

Take care!
