hip injury?

hi,

For many years I have suffered from anorexia nervosa which has led to me having a very low bone density as a result of poor diet and eight years of maintaining a BMI of below 16. Recently, I have been getting very bad pains in my left hip, both from within the joint and my upper thighs. I have had the pain for nearly two weeks, nurofen plus does not touch the pain, mersyndol is mildly effective. I cannot exercise and am not overly physically active so I am quite sure this is not a sport related ache. (it might also be important to note that I am currently at a healthier weight and eating nutritionally)

I have not been able to get an appointment with my GP until next Friday and I'm in quite a panic because I know that I'm most likely to be at high risk for a hip injury and subsequent replacement. I am terrified, I'm only eighteen.

Thankyou in advance for any replies.

it still hurts so much!!

I have some Valium left over from an unrelated issue, would it be okay to use that for the pain?

Thanks

Perhaps you could go to a walk-in clinic or be put on a cancellation notice for your GP?  that does seem like a long time to wait for something so painful.

They need to do some more tests - x-rays, etc to see what is wrong there.  Try not to panic but do advocate for yourself the best you can - make sure the doc's staff knows how bad it is.

Take good care of yourself.  A lot of walk-ins are open on Saturdays.

Oh and I should also note that there aren't any movements that decrease the pain and the pain is enough to keep me awake at night. The results of a bone density scan done 12 months ago showed considerable damage to my lower spine... That is one of the main reasons why I'm so concerned about the pain.
